Frequently Asked Questions.

Scotchvilla is a character-led brand inspired by a real dog, Scotch. It is built around kindness, individuality, empathy, inclusiveness and joy. It began with one dog and is growing into a little world of characters, stories, products, experiences and community, where there is always room for one more.

Scotchvilla was founded by Mrs Srikala Bhaskaran, Scotch’s beloved granny and the visionary behind the brand. Akash, Scotch’s dad, is the storyteller and builder who leads the brand and business, bringing its ideas to life. And Scotch's younger sibling, Whiskey, is the brand's Chief Cheerleader.

Scotch + Villa = Scotchvilla. Villa is Scotch's little home: a welcoming place where different personalities can live side by side, and where there is always room for one more.

Different can be beautiful, and there is no single correct way to live a good life. Self-acceptance matters, kindness is cool, empathy is powerful, and joy grows when it is shared. We also want to use our little corner of the world to make a positive, meaningful difference.

Scotch is the central character of Scotchvilla. He is a dwarf Beagle with a massive, old-soul personality inside a tiny, eternal puppy body. He is calm, comforting, gentle, food-loving and a little peculiar, and he has a famous little waddle.

Scotch was born on 27 June 2021. He came home to Akash on 4 August 2021, during COVID. He was a gift of companionship from Akash's sister Athira and brother-in-law Sagar, who saw how much Akash had missed having a close companion and had always wanted a dog.

Scotch loves food, especially coconuts. He also loves snuggling up next to someone and falling asleep. He is an especially gentle dog, and he can be a wonderful introduction to dogs for people who feel nervous around them.

Scotch was chosen as the official dog mascot of Pet Fed Bengaluru 2023 through a public online vote. He and Akash took to the stage to present awards to the winning pets. Scotch has also been featured in Creature Companion and Petrons, as well as in a few YouTube features and podcasts.

Scotchvilla After Hours is a live, conversational format where Akash sits down with Scotch to talk about life with pets, and sometimes life in general. It is honest and unscripted, built on real experiences and audience questions, and it makes no claim to have all the answers.

Dwarfism in dogs is a structural skeletal disorder that can be linked to other health complications. Scotch is smaller in stature, so he needs extra attention to his diet, activity and regular vet visits. We share his story to help people understand dwarfism, while always celebrating Scotch first and foremost as Scotch.

Akash noticed that Scotch was not growing at the expected pace compared with a typical Beagle. After consulting vets, DNA testing and X-rays confirmed dwarfism when Scotch was around 7 months old. His care is different, but the love between Scotch and his family is no different.

No. Scotch may be smaller and walk differently, but that does not make him any less of a dog, or any less deserving of a full and fulfilling life. Different does not mean less.
